Made me smile - fun and interesting!!
"I did the Boulevard
of Dreams Tour this week and it was one of the highlights of my trip
to NYC. Gordon's passion for the area and the music is infectious and he
has a fantastic rapport with the locals. Such an interesting and fun tour,
and I loved listening to the various jazz musicians at the end. The time
FLEW by. I will definitely try to do one of Gordon's
longer tours next
time I come. Highly recommended."

Description
Boulevard of Dreams was the name
given to an historic stretch of 7th Avenue in Harlem during the Jazz
Age. Musicians and actors during the Harlem Renaissance would gather
there along the The Stroll, to see and be seen on the street that
made stars of Louie Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Bill “Bojangles”
Robinson, Ella Fitzgerald, Duke Ellington, Fats Waller, and Charlie
Parker.
Countless others gathered there beneath the legendary Blarney Stone of
Harlem – the wishing tree known as the Tree of Hope.
This two-hour walking tour gives you the chance to go back in time
to the place where it all began and walk in the footsteps of all
the greats to see where:
Billie Holiday
got discovered (Both places!)
The Big Apple got its name
Charlie Parker introduced Bebop
A homeless teenager named Ella won
her first fame
Duke Ellington
first worked in New York as a sideman
And more!
After touring this remarkable and historically rich
neighborhood, we will cool off with some hot jazz played by some of
the finest local musicians and singers along with those attracted to this area
from around the world. The Boulevard of Dreams is coming back in a
big way, and you too can participate and make your dreams come true by
joining the jam session, or by rubbing the Tree of Hope on this
wonderful and unique tour.
All ages are welcome. And if you are a jazz musician or vocalist,
you will get a chance to join the jam.

There will be opportunities to
eat and drink during this tour when we stop in the jazz joint, but food

bring some extra dollars to tip musicians, guide and servers as well.

Testimonials for Big Apple
Jazz Tours:
"Gordon, Thanks a million for the fabulous Harlem jazz experience you mastered so
wonderfully! I wish all my colleagues from the UN could hear your charming stories and
insights, or the fantastic jam sessions you gave us the chance to enjoy in some cool
clubs. My stay in New York would have been much poorer without this tour! Thanks for
opening my eyes to the places where I can have the most authentic and thrilling jazz
experiences!!! I’ll be back!"

"Hey, Gordon. Whenever people ask me where I get all my enthusiasm
for jazz, and how I ended up President of the West Virginia Jazz
Society, I always go back to our visit to St. Nick's Pub for open
mic night, George Braith, et al. 'That's where I got bit,' I say,
and it was all because we decided to spend an evening with
you, a complete stranger at the time. Recall stuffing 8 of us into
one gypsy cab around 2 in the morning. Great stuff and thanks again.
You asked me at the time, 'What is that buzzing around in your
head?' Now you know what it was. Live Jazz!"
