Jazz Pianist, Vocalist, Composer Rick DellaRatta created "Jazz for Peace" concerts in October 2001. Rick's goal is to help advance people to their highest potential through the understanding of Jazz as well as spreading peace through his "Jazz for Peace" concerts worldwide performing with multi-cultural musicians entering regions that are politically controversial. "Jazz for Peace" began as a benefit concert for the World Trade Center Tragedy at Troy Music Hall with The Rick DellaRatta Quartet featuring Eddie Gomez, Lenny White & Paquito D'Rivera. Since then "Jazz for Peace" has continued on with a special concert at the United Nations featuring Rick's International Jazz Band and then on to Italy, Spain, Paris & The US including Boston, San Francisco & Saratoga, NY. In addition to upcoming performance possibilities in Bolivia, Brazil, Israel & S. Africa, Rick DellaRatta's "Jazz for Peace" concerts are featured in NYC every Sat. night at Jazz on the Park, 36 W. 106th St (Duke Ellington Blvd) bet Manhattan Ave/CPW at 8pm. Rick's endeavor will reinforce what past history has proven - that the art form of Jazz has the ability to create a positive effect that unites people and may eventually start to transform the barriers and issues of different cultures and beliefs. |
